Dr. Lata Sonpal is licensed in the states of Florida, Indiana, and Illinois to practice Psychology and Psychotherapy, including Hypnotherapy, and has been providing psychotherapy to individuals, families, couples and groups since 1985.
She obtained her Ph. D. in Counseling Psychology from Indiana State University, an American Psychological Association approved program. She earned an M.A. in Counseling from the University of Evansville and an M.A. in Psychology from Kolkata University, India. Dr. Sonpal has also been certified by the National Board for Certified Clinical Hypnotherapists, which awarded her the title of Fellow in Clinical Hypnotherapy.
Dr. Sonpal currently maintains a private practice in Miami, Florida. Prior to establishing her own practice, she worked as a psychologist at the Weiss Institute for seven years.
In the past, Dr. Sonpal has worked as a crisis director and psychologist at Florida and Illinois Biodyne; as a psychologist at Riverside Counseling and Psychiatric Associates; as a child, youth, and family therapist at South Western Indian Mental Health Center; as a behavioral clinician III at Muscatatuck State Hospital; and as a program coordinator for UYA (University Year for Action).
In addition to providing individual, couple and family therapy, Dr. Sonpal has run the following groups:

Dr. Sonpal has also served as a lecturer at various institutions. She was Adjunct Faculty and taught “Practicum in Counseling Psychology” at the University of Southern Indiana and she taught “Family Therapy” at the Forest Institute of Professional Psychology. Dr. Sonpal has also assisted Brian L. Weiss, M.D. and Carole K. Weiss, M.S.W., C.HT. in providing “Past-Life Therapy: Professional Training” to other therapists and professionals.
